Arrive in Lago Agrio and meet the Piraña Lodge representative at Magic Paradise around 09:30. From there, travel approximately two hours by private transport to the entrance of the Cuyabeno Reserve.
Continue by canoe along the Cuyabeno River toward the lodge. Under normal water conditions the journey takes around two hours, although low water during the dry season can make the trip longer.
After lunch and time to settle in, head toward Laguna Grande and nearby areas. Swim as the day fades, watch the Amazon sunset and later experience the forest after dark on a night walk.
Early risers can head to the canopy tower for sunrise and birdwatching before breakfast.
Later, travel toward Laguna Grande and explore a rainforest trail for approximately three hours while your guide introduces the forest's plants, ecology, flora and fauna.
Return for lunch and hammock time before heading out again by canoe to search nearby lagoons and the Cuyabeno River for wildlife. Finish around Laguna Grande for another sunset before searching for nocturnal wildlife, including caimans.
Head out between approximately 06:00 and 08:00 for an early wildlife and birdwatching excursion while the forest is still relatively quiet.
After breakfast, pack and begin the canoe journey back toward the reserve entrance around 09:00, using the river journey for one last opportunity to look for wildlife.
The program finishes in Lago Agrio at approximately 14:00. Shared transport back toward Quito can be arranged in advance.
Days 1 and 2 follow the same rainforest rhythm as the three-day program. Then the journey goes farther.
Meet around 09:30 at Magic Paradise in Lago Agrio before travelling approximately two hours to the Cuyabeno Reserve entrance.
Continue by canoe toward Piraña Ecolodge. After lunch, explore Laguna Grande and nearby areas, swim around sunset and experience the rainforest after dark on a guided night walk.
Start early at the observation tower if you wish, then after breakfast travel toward Laguna Grande for an approximately three-hour rainforest walk.
After lunch and downtime at the lodge, return to the river and lagoons in search of wildlife. Swim around sunset before heading out to look for nocturnal species and caimans.
After breakfast, travel down the Cuyabeno River while continuing to search for wildlife. Visit an Indigenous family and learn about aspects of local culture and traditions.
Participate in a demonstration and tasting of casabe, a traditional food prepared from cassava.
The program also includes a visit with a local shaman to learn about cultural traditions and traditional plant knowledge. Later, stop to see a large ceiba tree before returning toward the lodge.
If time and energy allow, there may be another opportunity to return toward the lagoon before dinner.

Around 09:00, leave the lodge by canoe and travel back toward the reserve entrance, keeping watch for wildlife along the way. The program finishes in Lago Agrio at approximately 14:00.
