Find Your Calm

Quito can be wonderfully chaotic.

Buses rumble past centuries-old churches. Vendors call from the markets. The Andes rise around the city while Cotopaxi quietly watches from the distance.

Sometimes, the best way to experience Ecuador is to go somewhere.

And sometimes, it is to sit still.

You can learn not to move at its speed.” Daily Zen Yoga · Quito
A Different Kind of Practice

Mental hygiene.

We shower. We brush our teeth. We exercise our bodies.

But how often do we intentionally clear the accumulated noise from our minds?

Meditation does not require you to escape your thoughts or somehow become perfectly Zen. It is an opportunity to observe, breathe, become present, and gradually create a little more space between you and everything competing for your attention.

Whether you have meditated for years or have never sat in meditation before, the practice begins in exactly the same place.

One breath.

The Practice Slow down.
Clear the mind.
Make calm a practice.

No performance. No complicated techniques. Just an opportunity to stop, observe and reconnect.

Meet Your Guide

Meditate with Monk Choo.

At the heart of the sessions is Monk Choo, whose approach brings meditation back to something remarkably practical: learning how to work with the mind we carry around every day.

You do not need to be Buddhist. You do not need to consider yourself spiritual. And you definitely do not need to already know how to meditate.

You simply arrive. You sit. You breathe.

And for a little while, you stop trying to be everywhere else.

Try It Now

A meditation through Ecuador.

You don't have to be in a meditation room to begin. Find somewhere comfortable. Close your eyes. Let your breathing settle naturally.

01

Breathe.

Take a slow breath in.

And exhale.

Again.

Imagine the noise around you gradually becoming quieter.

02

The Andes.

Picture yourself high in the Ecuadorian Andes. The morning is cool and the mountains stretch toward the horizon.

Cotopaxi rises above the landscape, its snow-covered summit catching the first light.

There is nowhere you need to go.
Nothing you need to accomplish.

Just breathe.

03

The Amazon.

Now imagine the landscape changing.

The mountains descend toward the Amazon basin. The air becomes warmer. Dense green forest surrounds you.

You hear water moving beneath a canoe. Birds call somewhere beyond the trees.

The forest does not hurry.
Neither do you.
04

Return to Quito.

Imagine yourself walking through its historic streets beneath church domes, balconies and mountains.

The city is still moving. Cars are still passing. People are still going somewhere.

But something has changed.

You are no longer moving at the same speed as the noise around you.

05

Come back.

Take one final slow breath.

Feel the ground beneath you.

When you're ready, open your eyes.

Welcome back.
Slow Flow Travel

Travel fills the mind. Meditation creates space.

New landscapes. New foods. New languages. New people. New schedules.

That's part of what makes travel extraordinary.

But slowing down can help us actually notice what we're experiencing instead of simply collecting experiences.

“There is plenty to explore outside.
There is also an entire landscape inside.”

A meditation session can therefore be more than something squeezed between activities in Quito. It can become part of the journey itself.

Perhaps that is especially appropriate here in Ecuador, where within a relatively small country you can move from the Andes to the Amazon, the Pacific coast and the Galápagos.

Meditation in Quito

Come as you are.

If you're living in Quito, passing through Ecuador, beginning a meditation practice, or simply curious about what happens when you sit quietly for a while, you're welcome.

No need to arrive knowing how to meditate. That's why we practice.
