  • Overview of the different types of plants and animals found in the reserve: The Cuyabeno Reserve is home to an incredibly diverse array of plants and animals. The reserve contains a wide variety of ecosystems, such as tropical rainforests, flooded forests, and savannas. This diversity is reflected in the variety of plant and animal life found in the reserve. The reserve is home to over 570 species of birds, more than 100 species of fish, and more than 200 species of amphibians and reptiles. The reserve is also home to large numbers of primates, such as howler monkeys and capuchin monkeys, as well as a wide variety of other mammals such as jaguars, tapirs, and giant otters. The reserve also contains many unique species of plants including orchids, bromeliads, and tree ferns.
  • Description of any endangered or unique species found in the reserve: The Cuyabeno Reserve is home to many endangered and unique species, such as the black caiman, the giant otter, the pink river dolphin, the white-bellied spider monkey, and the Jivaro people. The reserve is also home to many species of primates, including the howler monkey, the capuchin monkey, and the spider monkey. Additionally, the reserve is also home to many species of birds, including the hoatzin, the harpy eagle, and the king vulture. Many of these species are considered threatened or endangered due to habitat loss, hunting, and other forms of human activity.
