Napo Wildlife Center is owned and managed directly by the Kichwa Añangu Community. Decisions about tourism, conservation and the responsible management of the territory remain in community hands.
Within Añangu territory, hunting and fishing have been prohibited for decades — part of a long-term commitment to reducing pressure on wildlife and protecting the forest that sustains it.
Tourism here doesn't simply visit the forest.
It helps give the forest another reason to remain standing.
Yasuní is extraordinary precisely because it remains wild. Nothing performs on schedule here.

Fly from Quito to Coca and transfer to the private dock before travelling approximately two hours by covered motorized canoe along the Napo River.
At the Napo Wildlife Center welcome area, the journey changes. Transfer into a paddle canoe and enter Añangu Creek quietly, watching the forest close around you as you travel toward the lodge.
Begin early along Añangu Creek before travelling toward the parrot clay lick on the Napo River. Continue through terra firme forest to a second clay lick used by parrots, parakeets and macaws when conditions are favorable.
Walk onward to Kuri Muyu Interpretation Center, managed by the women of the Añangu Community, for an introduction to Kichwa traditions, music, dance and ancestral knowledge. After returning to the lodge, head into the forest again after dinner for a night walk.
Start with a canoe journey toward one of Napo Wildlife Center's observation towers. From above, scan the canopy for birdlife and monkeys before returning through terra firme forest beneath giant trees, vines and dense understory.
In the afternoon, return to the water. Paddle nearby creeks where caimans, otters, monkeys and other wildlife may be encountered along the forest edge.
Leave early by paddle canoe along Añangu Creek as the rainforest wakes. At the welcome area, transfer to a motorized canoe for the journey back to Coca and your onward flight arrangements.
The first three days follow the core journey. Then you get something precious in the Amazon: more time.
Arrive through Añangu Creek, explore the clay licks, meet members of the Kichwa Añangu Community at Kuri Muyu, walk the forest after dark, rise into the canopy and explore the surrounding waterways by paddle canoe.
Venture along designated trails through terra firme and swamp forest, searching for the signs and movements of wildlife with your guides.
After lunch, return to the paddle canoes and explore deeper areas of the surrounding creeks. The pace is quiet. The objective is simple: give the forest time to reveal what happens to be there.
Travel once more along Añangu Creek by paddle canoe, listening to the morning forest before reconnecting with the Napo River and returning to Coca.

Five days take you deep into Añangu territory. Day six's longer itinerary adds a journey into another Amazon landscape: Pañacocha.
Experience the lagoon, clay licks, Kichwa cultural exchange, observation tower, terra firme and swamp forest, night exploration and repeated journeys through creeks by paddle canoe.
Travel by motorized canoe approximately two hours downstream along the Napo River toward Pañacocha Lagoon. Its name means “Piranha Lagoon,” and the surrounding protected forest forms part of an ecological corridor between Cuyabeno to the north and Yasuní to the south.
Navigate flooded igapó forest and explore a habitat where squirrel monkeys, tamarins, sloths and pink river dolphins may be encountered.
The program also includes a traditional artisanal fishing activity. Importantly, this takes place outside Kichwa Añangu territory, where the community itself has prohibited hunting and fishing for decades.
Depart before the day fully begins, travelling by paddle canoe through Añangu Creek before returning by motorized canoe to Coca.
